August 2026

Swatch analytics, Shopify Sidekick integration, CSV bulk updates and translations, and much more accurate Magic fill

  • Improvement Carousel dots now show one dot per page of swatches: a row that displays six of ten swatches gets two dots instead of counting scroll steps. Carousel spacing also became sturdier — the gap is applied as a plain CSS margin, so a theme or a custom CSS rule that sets its own spacing on a swatch no longer shifts the arrows, dots and progress bar out of step with the swatches.
  • Feature Carousel layouts have a new Navigation style setting. Besides the arrows, swatch carousels can now show dots under the row, a thin progress bar, or faded edges with no controls at all (the side that hides swatches fades out, and only that side) — or nothing, for swipe and drag only. Set it per device and per placement, so a product page can keep its arrows while product cards get something quieter. Existing groups keep their arrows. See the visual settings guide.
  • Feature New Analytics page: see how shoppers use your swatches. Total swatch clicks with a day-by-day chart, the split between product page and product card clicks, your most clicked products and groups, the mobile vs desktop breakdown, how clicks spread across the swatch row, and sold-out demand: clicks on swatches while the product was out of stock, listed by product. Filter everything by date range, device, and click type, and get a short weekly summary by email. Nothing to set up, included on every plan. See the swatch analytics guide.
  • Improvement “Push out-of-stock swatches to the end” now also covers cross-filtered values. With “Cross-filter the first group” on, the crossed-out values that do not combine with the current selection move to the very end of the row, after the sold-out ones, so the choices a shopper can actually buy come first. They are still shown and still clickable. Nothing moves if you leave the setting off.
  • Feature New setting for catalogs where only some combinations exist: “Cross-filter the first group”. On product pages the first swatch row always showed every value, so a shopper could pick one that does not exist with their current selection and be switched to another size or style without warning. Turn the setting on and those values are crossed out instead: still visible and still clickable, so nobody gets locked into their current choice, but it is clear which combinations are real. Off by default; the second row and below keep working exactly as before. See the multiple options guide.
  • Feature New sorting rule: sort swatches by diversity of available variants. When enabled in Settings, products with more distinct native variants in stock (for example more available sizes) appear before products with fewer, so the richest choices win the visible swatch slots. Fully sold out products sink to the end, and ties fall back to your other sorting rules. Off by default; stores that leave it off are completely unaffected. See the sorting guide.
  • Feature Translate all your groups at once with a CSV. The Translate page now has "Export all translations", which emails you one file containing every option name, option value, and swatch category in your store, with a column per language and your existing translations already filled in. Send it to a translator or fill it in yourself, then use "Import translations" to upload it back: the translations are applied in the background and you get an email with exactly what was applied, what was already up to date, and anything that could not be saved. Empty cells never overwrite what you already have. The per-group Translate page now also lists the swatch categories that group uses, so categories can be translated by hand as well. See the translations guide.
  • Feature Sidekick can now edit your existing combined listings, not just create them. Mention any product in a group and say what to change: "change the brown swatch on my leggings group to Espresso Brown", "add the beige tote and remove the grey one", or "use my new fabric swatch images for the swatches". Sidekick finds the group (and asks which one if the product is in several), opens it, and stages the changes: option values, swatch colors, adding or removing products, and custom swatch images from any image in your Files library. As with creating, nothing is written to your store until you review the form and click Save. See the Sidekick guide.
  • Feature CSV import can now update existing groups. Export your groups, edit the file in a spreadsheet, and import it again: matching groups (by the exported group_id, or by name and option name for hand-made files) are synced to the CSV instead of being skipped, with products added or removed, and option values, swatch colors, custom images, categories, and even group names updated. Group settings stay unchanged, groups identical to the file are left alone, and the review step badges which groups will be updated before anything runs. See the CSV import guide.
  • Feature Shopify Sidekick integration: create combined listings by chatting with Sidekick, Shopify's built-in AI assistant. Ask something like "combine my bags as variants" and Sidekick finds the products, opens the app's create page pre-filled, and fills in option values and swatch colors for you (ask it to analyze your product photos for precise color codes). Nothing is saved until you review the form and click Save, and there is no setup: it works wherever Sidekick is available in your admin. See the Sidekick guide.
  • Improvement Magic fill color detection was rebuilt end to end. Suggested swatch colors are now measured from your product photo's actual pixels instead of generic color guesses, and the analysis understands how the product is photographed (worn by a model, staged in a room, or alone in a studio shot), so backgrounds, skin tones, walls, and floors no longer leak into suggestions. Combined with an upgraded vision model, accuracy against visually verified results improved from 71% to 90%, with the right color family suggested 93% of the time.
  • Feature Magic fill now learns your store's naming style. Option value suggestions follow the wording, format, and language of the values already used in your groups (for example "24 kpl" instead of "24-pack" for a Finnish store), so suggestions fit your catalog instead of needing manual rewording.
  • Feature The admin panel is now available in Korean, bringing the total to 16 languages. Switch to it from the language picker on the home page: the whole interface, including emails you receive from the app, changes instantly with no page reload.

July 2026

High priority swatch loading, MCP server, smoother switching, and accessibility

  • Feature New "High priority swatch loading" option asks the browser to load the swatch scripts before other low priority resources, so product page swatches appear sooner on stores with many apps or heavy pages. On slow connections it can compete with your theme's images for bandwidth, so it is off by default. You can find it in the new "Performance optimizations" settings section, which is now also home to the Prefetch and Prerender options.
  • Feature MCP server: connect AI assistants like Claude to your store and manage combined listings in plain language: search products, create and edit product groups, automatically group your whole catalog, copy one group's styling to your other groups, and change app settings. Create a connection on the new "MCP server" page in the app, choose read-only or full access, and revoke it anytime. See the setup guide.
  • Improvement Swatches inside Horizon-based themes' quick add popup and product cards can now switch the linked product in place. When enabled, clicking a color swatch updates the size options, price, images, and add-to-cart form to the selected product instead of navigating away, so shoppers can pick a color and size and add the correct variant without leaving the popup. Contact support to enable it for your store.
  • Feature New "Preserve scroll position on swatch click" option in the Performance optimizations settings. When a shopper clicks a swatch and the page loads the linked product, the new page instantly restores the previous scroll position, so switching between linked products feels seamless instead of jumping back to the top. It works on all modern browsers (mobile included) and safely falls back to normal behavior where unsupported. Off by default.
  • Improvement Screen reader labels for swatches now announce the option value (for example "Cherry") instead of the linked product's title. Linked products often share one title, which made every swatch in a group announce identically; each option is now distinguishable. Sold-out visual and button swatches also append "sold out" to their label, so availability is announced rather than conveyed only by the crossed-out styling.
  • Improvement The "+n" button that reveals hidden swatches is now announced as "Show n more options" instead of just a number, reports its expanded or collapsed state to assistive technology, and moves keyboard focus to the first revealed swatch after expanding, so keyboard and screen reader users keep their place.
  • Improvement Setting a custom swatch image is now a one-step flow. The "Set custom image" button in the group editor opens Shopify's native file picker, so you pick an image from your store files and it is applied immediately, without editing the swatch metaobject by hand. Replacing or removing an existing image continues in the swatch editor as before.

Faster swatch navigation: prefetch and prerender

  • Feature The "Copy settings" button now lets you choose which groups receive a group's copied visual settings. Its "Apply settings to other groups" dialog has a search box and a select-all option, so you can target just a few groups or, as before, copy to every group in one click.
  • Improvement When you copy a group's settings to other groups, the app now emails you a summary the moment it finishes (how many groups were updated, and any that could not be), so you never have to wonder whether the background job completed.
  • Feature New "Sort products alphabetically" toggle in the Sorting settings. When enabled, swatches are ordered alphabetically by their option value (case-insensitive, with natural numeric ordering so "Size 2" comes before "Size 10"). It is the lowest-priority sort, so the out-of-stock rules and "Push new products to the start" still take priority. Off by default.
  • Feature New "Show selected product first" toggle in the Sorting settings. When enabled, the product currently being viewed is always pinned to the front of the swatch row. This is the highest-priority sort and overrides every other rule, including out-of-stock placement. Off by default.
  • Feature Swatch visibility can now be controlled per device. An "Advanced: control by device" section under Swatch visibility lets you hide product page, product card, or featured product swatches on desktop or mobile independently, while keeping them enabled on the other device. All options are off by default, so existing stores are unchanged.
  • Feature Per-group device visibility. Each product group's advanced settings now include a "Device visibility" section to hide that group's product page or product card swatches on desktop or mobile. These layer on top of your global visibility settings and are off by default.
  • Feature New "Product page settings" options to prefetch or prerender the linked product page when a shopper hovers or taps a swatch, so navigating between linked products feels faster. Both are off by default. Prerender is the most aggressive option and runs the linked page's scripts before the visit, so review its trade-offs first. See the faster swatch navigation guide. (Update: since July 2026 these options live in the "Performance optimizations" section.)
  • Improvement New guide: show one card per group on collection pages using Shopify's Unlisted product status, while the swatch row keeps linking to every grouped product.
  • Improvement CSV import now creates single-product groups too — whatever you put in the CSV is imported, even entries with only one product. The other detection methods still require at least two products per group.
  • Improvement CSV import no longer skips products that already belong to another group. Because the CSV reflects exactly what you intend, a product listed under a new group is added to it even if it's already in others — so you can put the same item in more than one group (for example Color and Style) and it renders a separate swatch row per option. Re-importing the same file is still safe: a group is skipped only when an identical group already exists, so you never get duplicates.
  • Improvement Bulk grouping now scans large catalogs with a single Shopify bulk operation instead of paging through products one batch at a time (smaller catalogs keep using the faster direct fetch). For large stores this is much quicker and no longer stalls on Shopify's rate limits, so detecting groups across thousands of products is faster and more reliable. The detected groups are exactly the same.

May 2026

Sort swatches by newest first, CSV custom image and category

  • Feature New "Sorting settings" section in global settings with a "Push new products to the start" toggle. When enabled, swatches are ordered by the product's publish date, newest first. If a product is also out of stock and the out-of-stock rule is enabled, that rule still takes priority.
  • Feature CSV import now supports two new optional columns: swatch_custom_image (a Shopify file GID like gid://shopify/MediaImage/123) and swatch_category (a plain text name). Categories with the same name are deduplicated automatically, so the same name shared across rows ends up referencing one category.
  • Improvement CSV export now reads all group, swatch, and category data fresh from Shopify on every export instead of trusting the app's local cache. This guarantees the file reflects edits made directly in the Shopify metaobject editor.

April 2026

CSV import/export and admin translations

  • Feature Multiple options support (Color x Style, Color x Size, etc.): products that belong to two or more groups now render a separate swatch row per option, with automatic cross-group filtering so customers only see valid combinations. See the multiple options guide.
  • Feature CSV import for bulk grouping: import product groups from a CSV file, with product handle resolution and an example template to get started
  • Improvement CSV import headers are now case-insensitive and accept spaced names (e.g., "Product Handle" works alongside "product_handle")
  • Improvement Faster CSV import for large files, especially when many handles don't match any product in the store
  • Improvement Bulk group creation no longer skips products without a featured image
  • Feature Export all product groups to CSV: generates a file with fresh product data from Shopify and sends it to your email
  • Feature Admin translated into Arabic, German, French, Turkish, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Azerbaijani, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Swedish, and Norwegian
  • Feature Separate display order for product cards: control the order of groups on product cards independently from product pages
